Request for Cadet Services

The Fairfield Police Cadets are available to assist at community events year-round. If you would like to request cadets for security, traffic control, or other functions, please email: [email protected].
Private Property Traffic Direction
Cadets can assist with directing traffic and parking on private property, such as parking lots and open fields. They are frequently utilized at major town events, including fireworks displays, carnivals, and fairs.
Road Races
The Fairfield Police Cadets have a long-standing tradition of assisting at road races throughout Fairfield, including the Sunset 5K, Fairfield Half Marathon, and Thanksgiving Turkey Trot.
  • Cadets may be stationed along race routes to help maintain road closures.
  • They are only assigned in pairs at locations with barricades or cones for traffic control.
  • Cadets serve as the eyes and ears of the police department, equipped with radios to report medical emergencies and provide immediate aid.
Important Notes for Road Race Requests:
  • Cadets do not replace police officers. Events requiring law enforcement must still hire regular police officers through the department.
  • Cadet Advisors (supervising officers) do not count as hired police officers—their primary responsibility is to monitor the cadets.
  • There is no additional charge for Police Cadet Advisors, as they volunteer their time.
  • If requesting cadets for a road race outside of Fairfield, prior approval from the local police department is required to ensure compliance with their policies.
  • Cadets are not permitted to direct traffic on public roadways or perform enforcement actions.
Public Safety Presence
Cadets can enhance public safety and community engagement at large events. Many cadets are CPR and First Aid certified and can provide assistance until a more qualified responder arrives. Additionally, cadets are trained in missing person response protocols, which have been successfully implemented at numerous events.
Safety Notice
  • Cadets must be supervised by a Fairfield Police Officer certified as a Cadet Advisor.
  • Assignments may be adjusted by supervising officers or ranking cadets to ensure safety.
  • Cadets must be given breaks every hour to rest and eat.
Donations
  • Town-Sponsored Events: If the Fairfield Police Department is involved, cadets may assist at no cost.
  • Private Events: A donation to the Fairfield Police Cadets non-profit is requested to help cover the cost of safety equipment and food for cadets.
  • Large-Scale Events: If meals are provided for staff, meal vouchers for cadets are appreciated as a token of recognition for their hard work.
For inquiries or to request cadet services, please contact [email protected].
